Though David Karp’s Is It Me or My Meds?: Living with Antidepressants addresses questions related to authenticity of self and the alteration of identity through the long-term use of psychoactive medications, the book offers a much sadder, more ambivalent reading of medication usage than what can be found in earlier publications emerging from what David Healy calls “the antidepressant era.”
