Claudio Véliz is Emeritus Professor of Sociology, La Trobe University, Melbourne, and Emeritus University Professor and Professor of History, Boston University. He is the author of a number of books, including The Centralist Tradition of Latin America (1980) and The New World of the Gothic Fox: Culture and Economy in English and Spanish America (1994).
