Gary Cross is a Distinguished Professor of Modern History at Penn State University. He is the author of Men to Boys: The Making of Modern Immaturity (2008) and The Cute and the Cool: Wondrous Innocence and Modern American Children's Culture (2004). His forthcoming book Packaged Pleasures will be published in 2014.
